What happens when you mix great jazz, funk and pop together, all played by some of the finest session and jazz musicians from the Birmingham & West Midlands Jazz Scene? Well, jazz trumpeter and guitarist Nick Dewhurst and his band are all about finding that out!
Based in Lichfield, the ND Band plays funky original compositions, alongside Nick’s arrangements of tunes picked from both the worlds of jazz and pop! Always served up in a lively and exciting show, the band specialises in great grooves, passionate solos and exceptional musicianship.
Since forming in 2015, the band has recorded two albums ‘Suspect in You’ and ‘Skyrocket’, and has performed many concerts and gigs over the years, including playing at the Lichfield Jazz & Blues Festival, Birmingham Jazz, Jazzlines/B:Music in Birmingham, and at Matt and Phreds Jazz Club in Manchester.
In addition to these performances, the band has done several concerts with major guest UK jazz musicians, including Mike Walker on Guitar, Dennis Rollins on Trombone, as well as with Derek Nash and Tommaso Starace on Saxes.
In August 2023, the ND Band went on tour in Germany, playing great concerts at a variety of venues, including in a 600 year old wine cellar in the Mosel Valley, as well as playing in the twin town of Lichfield, Limburg an der Lahn.
Nick Dewhurst is one of the Midlands’ most in demand jazz, commercial and session trumpet players, and regularly plays with a wide range of different bands, ensembles and artists. In addition to performing regularly, Nick is also a very passionate music educator, composer and arranger, and enjoys playing guitar, bass guitar & valve trombone too!
