New Music…

I’ve been checking out some new albums recently, and I’m thoroughly enjoying all of them!

1) The Rodriguez Brothers: Mood Swing.  The line up is Trumpet/Piano/Bass/Drums, so the same as my own quartet, and so of particular interest! Percy P told me to check out Michael Rodriguez, and he’s right, this guy sounds great! Thoroughly enjoying this album.

2) Fay Claasseen with WDR Big Band Cologne.  This was recommended to me by some of my friends in Enschede (NL).  My favourite track HAS to be Tea for Two, just an awesome example of great Big Band writing/playing/and of course singing! The whole album is fab, but that track is the best for me.

3) Nicolas Folmer and Daniel Humair: Project.  Another trumpet quartet album that I’ve been checking out.  I’ve listened to a lot of Nicolas’ work, in particular his album with Bob Mintzer, and his work with Paris Jazz Big Band, which is just mega.  Also, thoroughly enjoying this album.  I think track 6 might be the one I like the most, called ‘Attrape Moi Si Tu Peux’.  But that being said, the whole album is ace.

All 3 albums have made my regular drive to Walsall much more enjoyable! Well worth checking out folks! 🙂
