Tuesday 7th May: I was recently contacted by some media students from the Perry Barr Campus of BCU. They asked me about providing some 1920s jazz for a vintage themed film they were making! With my major project band in shape from our recent performance, I got the guys on the case! I got my dad Chris Dewhurst involved too on Accordion! The final line up was myself on Trumpet, Dad on Accordian, Doug McMillan on Acoustic Guitar, Tom Baxter on Bass, and Billy Weir on Drums! In order to match the 1920s theme they’d given us we played ‘Lady Be Good’ and ‘Sweet Georgia Brown’. We were all suited and booted for the occassion, but top marks go to Billy for the braces! He looked the part!
It was a first experience for me to be filmed in the studio, but it was great fun, and there was a very relaxing atmosphere! All the students at Perry Barr were great to work with, and the previews they showed us of the film looked super! A big thanks to Hayley Webster for helping organising the day for us. It was great fun, and I can’t wait to see the results!
