Standards recording session

ImageLast Wednesday my Standards Quartet went to the studio and put down three tracks.  We were recording at Bourneville College, a Further Education college with a large campus in Longbridge.  My Dutch friend Joris Bolhaar joined the session on Trombone, Doug Mcmillan played Guitar, Tom Baxter on Bass, and Billy Weir on Drums.  Great to see such inspired young people recording, and a big thanks to John Potter (who as well as being a great guitarist and bassist), runs a fab programme over at Bourneville.  The session was part of my final year major project, which is to learn 30 standards from memory, each in 3 three keys.  At the session we recorded a medium swing arrangement of ‘I thought About You’, a ballad version of ‘My Foolish Heart’, and had great fun doing a latin classic ‘Wave’.
