ND Quartet @ The Edgbaston Tap

Last Monday it was my Quartet’s first gig.  It features me on Trumpet, Dave Ferris on Piano, Tom Baxter on Bass and Ric Yarborough on Drums.  We played three of my own compositions: San Fransisco, Tallinn and Tight Schedule.  We also played a Freddie Hubbard Tune ‘Hub-Tones’, a Woody Shaw tune ‘Stepping Stone’, and a tune by Joris Bolhaar entitled ‘Iberian Vibe’ – with a metre of 11/4 its rhythmically tricky, but has an overall catchy phrygian flavour.  The gig went down well to an enthusiastic crowd of jazzers, and the evening carried on with a jam session.  Next gig in the pipeline for this band is Wednesday January 16th, when we’re appearing at the popular jazz evening at Churchills Snooker Bar, Birmingham.
